Redecilla. After 16 miles

It was nice to have a quite night in Azofra.    In the middle of the night,  a giant windstorm blew the doors of our room open.   For the first time since starting, I was cold.  I pulled out my sleeping bag from my pack, and fell back asleep happy to need a bag.

We woke at 4:15 and hit the trail.   We planned to eat breakfast at a golf course 5 milss away, so we hadn't packed food.  The golf course didn't open until 8, so we continued on to the next town, 4 miles away.

On the trail,  Arthur,  the nine year old who has been walking and sharing meals with us for the last 5 days (together with his mother, Gosia) started to feel bad with chest pains and get really cold.  They had struggled with more than 10 miles in a day.  We walked them into town and said our goodbyes at a cafe.  Arthur was feeling better,  but his mother thought it was best to end the day.

They might take a bus to catch up with us, but our new pace is a little too much for them.

At Granon we stopped for a meal.  This was the first time we would eat a big meal, then continue walking.  After another 2.5 miles, we arrived at Recedillo at 12:30, just in time to shop.  The only market in town is open from 11am to 1pm on Sundays. Not much of a selection,  but enough for dinner and a snack for tomorrow.

At 2pm,  we walked across the street to church.   After mass,  the priest showed us a 12th century baptismal font and 14th century statue of Madonna and child.

Once again,  there are less than 20 pilgrims staying at our albergue.  It's rather quite and no young people.  The hospitalero layed down the rules when we checked in:  doors close at 10pm and quite time.   No loud music.  You can leave at 6am. but no earlier.   A few other rules I didn't pay attention to.  This guy is loads of fun.
