First at Azofra

With not much going on at the Albergue, we went to bed early.  There was only 13 of us staying there.  Three pilgrims from Belgium in their 60's haf been walking frim their home since April.  They were going to travel more than 1,000 miles to Santiago.

Although it was the hottest day at 104, the albergue was cool and had several fans in the bedroom that kept us cool until one pilgrim turned it off in the middle of the night.  It temperature rose immediately and I turned it back on after 5 minutes.  He slept in a full sleeping bag and must have been from some desert region.  He was the only one not to be awake by 5am.

Today was an uphill day, but not too steep.  We passed people for the first time going uphill.  We are really hitting our stride.  The first town was 10 miles out and we arrived after about 3 hours.  We haf a quick drink and walked through Najera back into the vineyards.

It was another 4 miles to Azofra,  mainly uphill and when we arrived at the albergue,  we were first in line.  We had stayed at this albergue 2 years ago and it was one of our favorites.   There are only two beds to a roon and it is a modern building with a nice courtyard.

We have been able to cook lately as the albergues have open kitchens.  I've been cooking hamburgers,  cheese sandwiches,  chicken, beans, vegetables and salads.   It tastes great, in part due to our hunger.  Marion wants to celebrate the 4th with hot dogs.  We'll see what we can find in this town of 200.

Happy 4th of July
